Telangana State Government to introduce English Medium in all Government Schools: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Rotary International District 3150, in support with local clubs, foreign partners and Rotary Foundation distributed 7,593 High School Dual Desks here in city in a function held at Hitex Grounds, Madhapur. These school desks will benefit 2, 27, 790 children every year in the five revenue districts of Telangana State informed Ravi Vadlamani, Chairman Save Our Schools initiative of Rotary District 3150 and the man behind the Desks Distribution in large numbers, because of which he has earned a name as “Desks Uncle’ from the school children

T. Harish Rao, Minister for Irrigation, Mines & Geology, Govt. of Telangana State graced the function as chief guest. He inaugurated the 1st and 7,593rd desk  and handover the Desks to the 145 schools.  Dr. D. Manoj Desai, Director Elect Rotary Intl, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Member of Parliament, Medak, Smt. Santha Sinha of MV Foundation and Marri Ravindra Reddy, Counsellor of Rotary Foundation, Renuka Butta, MP from Kurnool, Ravi Vadlamani, Chairman, Save Our Schools initiative of Rotary International and Rotarian behind the distribution of 7,593 desks graced  the desks distribution function as Guests of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion Harish Rao said Rotary International has created history today by distributing such large number of High School Dual Desks.  And he congratulated them for such a impressive and massive service activity. Harish Rao was impressed the way Rotary Intl lined up all the desks at the distribution function.

Speaking further he added that quality education must be improved, not just merely in teaching but also in government school infrastructure. He told the children assembled to work hard come up in life not merely as Doctors or Engineers, you need to compete and excel nationally in Civil Services and Defence Recruitments, he said.

The Telangana Goevernment is committed in improving all round performance of Government School. We would soon introduce English medium in all government schools, he said. Our Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao is very commited that Government Schools start teaching in English medium he said.  He also said that Government of Telangana will launch Haritha Haram from July 3rd to 10th. During the week, we will plan to plant 40crore saplings across the state. 

And urged each student to plant at least ten trees during Haritha Haram Campaign. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. D. Manoj Desai, International Director Eelect of Rotary International said Rotarians played a vital role in global initiative of Polio Eradication.  Due to our efforts Polio has been eradicated except in three countries—Nigeria, Pakisthan and Afghanisthan.  In few months now, these three countries too will be free from Polio, he said.  We were thinking of what next after Polio Eradication. That is when we thought of “WINS initiative in Schools” new initiative. Under this program, we will build 10,000 toilets in next ten years across India.  First of such initiative will be kicked off in next ten days at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and Pune in Maharashtra, he said.

Speaking on the occasion Shanta Sinha, said kids need to study with dignity. These desks will give them their due dignity, she said.  Renuka Butta , MP while speaking said we all must work for overall development of school education in the country. 

The Rotary District 3150 in the last five years has provided more than 75,000 school disks free of cost. 

The High School Dual desks each costing Rs 2400/- totally valuing Rs 1.82 crore are born by Rotary Local Clubs, Foreign Partners and Rotary Foundation. Each of these entities have contributed Rs 800/- towards each bench. Thus totally financed by them informed Past District Governor Dr. Ravi Vadlamani, Chairman of Save Our Schools initiative of the Rotary International in a press note issued in city today.

Benches to these 145 Government Schools located in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medak, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Mahboobnagar, Kurnool will be door delivered, Ravi Vadlamani added.

The partners of this initiative include Rotary Club of Greater Hyderabad, Rotary Club of Guntur, Rotary Club of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh; 17 Participating Clubs in Telangana. With the support of Rotary Intl District 1400, Finland; RI District Taiwan; RC St. Simons Island, RC Brunswick, RC Golden Isles-Glymn County & RC Mcintosh County, Ri District 6920, USA, this is made possible said Ravi Vadlamani.

Save Our Schools and subsequently make them happy schools is the initiative of The Rotary International District 3150, This program envisages to provide basic infrastructure in schools like maintenance of schools, boundaries to secure schools, benches and desk for better student teacher interaction; ensuring clean and hygienic separate toilets for boys and girls; providing safe and adequate drinking water, library facility; uniform and footwear; play and sporting equipment etc.  However, the first phase of this initiative is specially designed for the provision of school desks.

In another function to be held on 30th June in Chilakaluripet, it will distribute 1475 desks.
