First Solar puts online 20 MW of PV in India’s State of Telangana

US solar major First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) has put into commercial operations 20 MW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity in the Indian state of Telangana, local media said Thursday, citing a company statement.

The solar farm is part of the company’s 200-MW project portfolio under various stages of construction across the country, 45 MW of which are located in Telangana. The capacity is owned solely by First Solar.

Local utility Southern Power Distribution Corp of Telangana will purchase the output of the solar park under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). First Solar will receive a tariff of INR 6.49 (USD 0.10/EUR 0.09) per every kWh of electricity generated by the plant.

In June, the combined capacity of all PV plants across India climbed to 4,010.6 MW, according to data released by the country’s Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). Telangana accounted for just 62.75 MW of the total.
