HYDERABAD: The state government is planning to inaugurate at least a portion of the proposed Kaloji Kalakendram at Hanamkonda on the birth anniversary of poet Kaloji Narayana Rao in September this year.
The state government has proposed to construct Kaloji Kalakendram at an estimated cost of `30 crore.
Of this, the state government would bear `15 crore while the remaining would be Central government funds.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat after releasing the design of the Kalakendra on Monday, tourism minister Azmeera Chandulal said the Kaloji Kalakendra was proposed in three acres of site located at Balasamudram in Hanamkonda in Warangal.
The project is envisaged to promote art and culture of the region. It will act as a platform for local artisans, poets and artists to present their works. The Kalakendram will also promote employment and generate local economy, the minister said.
The Kalakendram will have an auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000 people with rehearsal room, green room and support facilities. An art gallery for exhibiting artisan’s works, paintings, library, lecture halls, workshop space and parking slots will be available.
“We sought Central government’s assistance to the tune of `15 crore under Tagore Cultural Complex Scheme. The state released its share already,” Chandulal said adding that at least one hall of the total Kalakendram would be inaugurated on the birth anniversary of Kaloji Narayana Rao on September 9. The Kalakendram design was prepared by Hafeez Contractor, the minister said.
