Ancient Twin Caves Discovered In Nalgonda District, Telangana State

The Department of Archaeology and Museums have stumbled upon ancient twin caves that could have been home to the pre-historic man in Nalgonda district of Telangana State. Experts claim that the caves are probably the oldest ever in both Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh.

The twin caves have a 15-metre radius at the entry point but the size narrows down as you go further down. One of the twin caves is said to be about 50 feet deep and the other about 650 feet.

The archaeology officials were informed about the place, that is just a couple of kilometers away from Nagarjunsagar backwaters, by local tribals.

Although no archaeological evidence like paintings have been found in the caves, experts confirmed that they haven't found such massive naturally formed caves in the past.

The caves can be used as an attraction spot to earn some revenue from tourism after the archaeologists are done with their research.
