The Telangana government has finally announced the date for Eamcet-III

HYDERABAD: While the Telangana government has  finally announced the date for Eamcet-III,  students from the state who have applied for counselling for admissions in AP medical colleges are in a dilemma.

Because, if they have to vacate seat in AP, in case they get a seat in Telangana in Eamcet-III, they have to forgo the fee paid during counselling and pay an amount of ` one lakh for forfeiting the seat.

Therefore parents and students are demanding the TS government to discuss with the AP government and ensure that results of Eamcet-III are announced before the  final counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions in AP.

‘’Our daughter got 110 rank in TS Eamcet-II and 560th rank in AP Eamcet. She would have got a seat in Telangana if the exam was not cancelled. Now we have to apply even for AP Eamcet. But if we vacate seat there later, in case of getting a good rank in Eamcet-III, we have to forgo the fee and also pay `one lakh. There are many students like this who are being burdened for no fault of theirs,” said Venkateshwar Reddy, father of a ranker.

Many top rankers from Telangana aspiring to join medical courses in AP, express the same problem, fearing that counseling in AP might get over even before Eamcet-III results are declared, thus putting them in a fix.

When contacted, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) vice-chancellor B Karunakar Reddy said that care would be taken to see that results of Eamcet-III will be released before the final counselling of AP MBBS admissions.

“The rule of paying `one lakh for vacating MBBS or BDS seat, was brought to discourage students from transferring from one college to the other, after the counselling process was over, as it leads to the most sought after MBBS and BDS seats lying vacant. The amount has to be paid only if the student vacates seat after the completion of final counselling. I will take to the notice of authorities that the results of Eamcet- III are released before the completion of final counselling in AP,” said Karunakar Reddy. KNRUHS oversees the admission process in medical colleges in Telangana.
