HYDERABAD: Amala Akkineni and others were taken as non-official members of the newly-constituted Telangana State Animal Welfare Board for a period of three years.
The minister of animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries will be the chairman of the 21-member board. Besides other officials, its non-official members will be Amala Akkineni, Founder of Blue Cross; Swamy Svayam Bhagvan Das, co-opted member for AWBI for AP and Telangana and vice-president of all District SPCA; C Samyukta, campaign manager, Wild Life, Human Society International, India; Shyam Sunder Agarwal, advocate and animal welfare activist, Hyderabad; Satheesh Khandelwal, Peela Ramakrishna Memorial Jeeva Raksha Sangam, Khammam; and Sarjana Ramesh, Maharshi Goshala Charitable Trust.
The Animal Welfare Board will advise the government on measures for strict implementation of PCA Act, 1960 and to prevent unnecessary pain or suffering to animals generally and more particularly when they are being transported from one place to another. The board will also suggest measures for strict implementation of the AP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animals Preservation Act, 1977 and other allied animal welfare rules, Acts and laws and to provide input for legal matters.
The board's fund shall consist of contributions, donations, subscriptions, bequest, gifts and the like made to it by local authority or by any other persons/ agencies/organisations.
TSphc to make master plan for fcri
The state government on Friday entrusted preparation of master plan and execution of the work of construction of buildings and other infrastructure of Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) at Mulugu to Telangana State Police Housing Corporation Limited (TSPHC), Hyderabad. The state government has already allocated `45.79 crore towards capital expenditure and `6.82 towards recurring expenditure for FCRI.
