MEDAK: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated several development projects in Telangana.
He laid the foundation stone for the Rs 10,598.98 crore National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) 1,600 MW Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (Phase I) in Ramagundam city.
Speaking on the occassion, PM Modi said "Telangana is just a 2-year-old state, yet it has been able to fulfil the expectations of the people," PM Modi said. "Whenever CM KCR has met me, he has spoken about the state's development and about water related issues."
Stressing on the need for 'cooperative federalism,' Modi said "There was a time when dialogue between Centre and states was quite tense but now, both work together for development." He also took on cow vigilantes+ and called for stringent action against them.
The event was also attended by Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan, chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, power minster Piyush Goyal, labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana energy minister G Jagadish Reddy and NTPC's chairman and managing director Gurdeep Singh.
NTPC is set to establish the project in Telengana, India's 29th state, in two phases — 1600 MW (2x800MW) in Phase I and 2400 MW (3x800 MW) in Phase II.Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched phase-1 of 'Mission Bhagiratha', a flagship project of Telangana government aimed at providing piped drinking water to every household in the state.
Modi also unveiled plaques to mark the laying of foundation stone for the 152-km Manoharabad- Kothapalli new railway line (connecting Hyderabad and Karimnagar), Ramagundam, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal and revival of Ramagundam fertiliser plant in Karimnagar district.
