Even as the Central government fights to create a business-friendly environment, the brand-new Telangana government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao has walked the talk by announcing a unique and highly welcome Right to Clearance policy. This is a significant move in the new State’s industrialisation programme, and could prove to be a crucial differentiator in the near future. Akin to the Right to Information, the Right to Clearance recognises that businesses have the right to know why project proposals are being delayed and to demand redress for unnecessary procrastination. Bureaucratic red-tape and corruption have not really come to an end in India despite the death of licence raj; industries are still at the mercy of whimsical policies and procedural nightmares. The Right to Clearance will involve a provision to impose a fine of Rs.1,000 on officials for each day of delay in granting clearance to a project, besides allowing businesses to know the exact reason why a proposal is stuck.

Telangana State Handicrafts trademark "Golkonda" to tie-up with Amazon for online sales

Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation (TSHDC) will tie up with e-commerce major Amazon to sell products online in its effort to build its trademark "Golkonda". TSHDC vice chairman and managing director Shailaja Ramaiyer said some of the major Telangana handicrafts including 'Dokra', 'Bidri' crafts, 'Nirmal' artworks, Cheriyal paintings, pearls and brass-ware would be put up on the online platform to start with. "There are several more...based on the response from the public, we will see if we can expand (the product range on offer) further," Shailaja told PTI here. She said the tie-up will take place tomorrow. Stressing that the products available on the portal are hand-made and not factory-produced, she said, "These are not machine-made products...(so) can't be replicated again and again. FMCG products 100-cr chicken processing unit in Telangana State

HYDERABAD: SFPL, a diversified company into poultry, edible oil and FMCG products is setting up a 100 crore chicken processing plant in Jadcherla, Mahboobnagar district of Telangana. The German-technology based Muriel Starc unit will have a capacity to process 6,000 birds per hour and would be among the biggest in India, said the company’s Managing Director and Founder D Ram Reddy. The funding is a mix of a ₹70-crore loan from South India Bank and internal accruals. “We plan to get the unit operational during October. The target is to reach a capacity of one lakh birds per day in the near future,” he told BusinessLine. The plant is among the first lot of 21 industrial units that the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao issued licences in a short time under the new industrial policy unveiled in June this year.
